The State of the Union and Minority Entrepreneurs: Challenges and Opportunities

The State of the Union and Minority Entrepreneurs: Challenges and Opportunities Webinar

The pandemic unleashed a historic burst in entrepreneurship and self-employment, with more than 9.8 million new business applications filed in the past two years according to Census Bureau data. Yet communities of color continue to experience barriers to creating and sustaining a business, including gaps in access to capital, federal contracting opportunities, and other areas. Indeed, a May 2021 Reimagine Mainstreet survey of small business owners found only 43 percent of Black respondents, 38 percent of Asian American and Pacific Islander respondents, and 29 percent of Hispanic respondents were confident they could access the financing needed to meet their needs. As the Covid-19 economic recovery takes shape, join us for a conversation that will reflect on the State of the Union and highlight the challenges and opportunities of minority entrepreneurship.
