Pat Fong Kushida is president and chief executive officer of the California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is one of the most prominent API business organizations in the state, and provides advocacy, technical assistance programs and outreach to a significant portion of this state’s demographics, the over 600,000 Asian Pacific owned businesses in California.As president/CEO, Ms. Fong Kushida created a web-based platform to connect small, disadvantaged business enterprises to contracts in the public and private supplier diversity contract arena. This platform is currently being utilized by the California Public Utility Commission and the Department of Transportation. She created a separate foundation to house the chamber’s economic and workforce development, leadership, and education programs. Ms. Fong Kushida has developed programs to help member businesses, formed collaborations with many community-based organizations, advocated on behalf of the chamber at the state and federal levels and developed successful ongoing fund development programs to ensure chamber viability.Ms. Fong Kushida serves on numerous boards and commissions, and has garnered many awards based on the work that she has done serving the AAPI business community in California.
