The Largest Coalition of National Small Business Organizations, Small Business Roundtable, Applauds Senate on Infrastructure Passage
Washington, D.C. - SBR Leaders issued the following statements in response to the U.S. Senate’s passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act:
Rhett Buttle & John Stanford, Co-Executive Directors of Small Business Roundtable
“At the outset of these bipartisan conversations, the Small Business Roundtable and our members stressed the importance of Congress working across party lines for the greater good of the American people. That was achieved in the Senate’s passage of the infrastructure package and we hope the House will move speedily to enact this legislation. The inclusion of small business priorities, including setting-aside opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses, ensuring broadband is available to all entrepreneurs, and strengthening federal agencies to support businesses across the country.”
SBR Members:
Candace Waterman, President & CEO, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) “We applaud the Administration and Congress for their bipartisan efforts to reach an agreement on a comprehensive infrastructure plan. This bipartisan effort will deliver progress and spur economic growth for the American and women business owners, and it is our hope that Congress and the Administration will continue to work together on other measures important to women business owners, including government contracting and access to capital. This infrastructure plan will bring American roads, bridges, ports and airports to the 21st century and is a huge victory for women owned businesses and their workers.”
Chiling Tong, President & CEO of the National Asian Pacific Islander Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (National ACE)
“The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill represents a significant and timely investment in our nation’s infrastructure which is imperative for AAPI businesses to recover and thrive for decades," said National ACE President & CEO, Chiling Tong. Tong added “The language to expand and make permanent the MBDA represents a major win for America’s minority businesses. AAPIs, as well as many minority-owned businesses, have suffered greatly over the last 16 months and to expand and make permanent the MBDA is a step in the right direction toward their recovery, which will be essential for the economic recovery.”
