National ACE Participates in Small Business Roundtable with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi

On May 5th, 2020, National ACE, along with the other members of the Small Business Roundtable, hosted an open and frank discussion with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on COVID-19’s continued implications for small businesses and the potential for future relief efforts by the U.S. Congress.

National ACE’s President and CEO, Chiling Tong, asked the Speaker about two specific issues of importance to the Asian American and Pacific Islander business community at this stage in the economic recovery. First, with the Paycheck Protection Program proving to not be a viable option for many restaurants in the country, and especially those in Asian American communities, Ms. Tong asked about what more can be done specifically for those in the food service industry. Second, Mr. Tong asked about the language in the CARES Act that provides resources and services to small business concerns in the 10 most commonly spoken languages, other than English, which shall include Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, and Korean - and when those resources and services would become available. You can view Ms. Tong’s conversation with Speaker Pelosi below, which begins just before the 26th minute.
