National ACE Celebrates the Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to Serve as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court

February 25, 2022: Washington DC – Today, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve as an Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. National ACE supports and applauds this historic nomination. If confirmed, Jackson will be the first Black woman and the first former federal public defender to ever serve in the U.S. Supreme Court. Jackson is also the first Black woman to have been nominated to serve on the Supreme Court.

Judge Kentanji Brown Jackson is exceptionally qualified and has devoted the majority of her successful career to serving the public. Judge Jackson currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. From 2013 to 2021, she served as a United States District Judge for the District of Columbia. She has been confirmed by the Senate on a bipartisan basis three times – twice as judge and once to serve on the U.S. Sentencing Commission. Jackson was nominated by President Biden to replace Justice Stephan Breyer after he announced his retirement last month. Justice Breyer will formally retire at the end of the Court’s current session in June 2022.

National ACE celebrates this historic nomination and looks forward to a timely and bipartisan process to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court.
