Houston Asian American Community Gathers to Celebrate Lunar New Year at Bank of America Tower
[February 22, Houston, Texas] National Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (National ACE), along with partner organization Asian Chamber of Commerce-Houston (ACC), hosted a Lunar New Year reception at Bank of America Tower in Houston on Thursday, February 22. The event was attended by over 170 community members, small business owners, and corporate and government leaders.
Lunar New Year is a special time of year for the Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Native Hawaiian (AANHPI) community to celebrate, reflect on the past year, and look forward to things to come. “[The Year of the Dragon] symbolizes ambition, determination, and the courage to pursue our dreams with vigor and resilience. As we embark on this new lunar cycle, let us harness the energy of the dragon to overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and chart a course toward prosperity and fulfillment,” said National ACE board member Jason Chan (Director of External Affairs / Chief of Staff to the President of the West Region, AT&T), who emceed the event.
“On behalf of the National ACE membership and Board of Directors, we are thrilled to welcome the Year of the Dragon and reaffirm our commitment to bringing prosperity and opportunities for growth. To that end, we are working to elevate and ensure that the AANHPI community’s economic contributions—which is projected to reach $1.6 trillion this year—are recognized. As the fastest-growing ethnic group in the country, we are thrilled to celebrate the AANHPI community during this special time,” said National ACE President and CEO, Chiling Tong.
Live entertainment was provided by local performers Lee’s Golden Dragon, celebrating their 50th anniversary of performance in the Houston area.
The event was attended by local leaders and business executives, including Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07); Texas State Representative Gene Wu (District 137); Hong Ogle, Houston Market President, Bank of America; and Garret Gin, SVP, Global Marketing & Corporate Affairs, Bank of America.
