National ACE Celebrates Nomination of Julie Su as Secretary of Labor, Invited To The White House Announcement
[Washington, D.C. March 1, 2023] – This morning, President Biden formally announced his nomination of Deputy Secretary Julie Su to serve as Secretary of Labor following Secretary Marty Walsh’s departure later this month. If confirmed, Deputy Secretary Su will be the second Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) to serve in the President’s Cabinet, joining the U.S. Trade Representative, Katherine Tai. As Secretary, Deputy Secretary Su will fill a crucial role to address key issues for the AAPI community. The National Asian Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (National ACE) applauds the President’s nomination of Deputy Secretary Su to serve as Secretary of Labor and we look forward to supporting her swift and fair confirmation in the Senate.
“Deputy Secretary Su has worked alongside Secretary Walsh to lead the Department of Labor through unprecedented workforce challenges and is more than prepared to lead the Department and to continue the progress of the past two years. AAPIs account for 6% of the workforce, and employ over 5 million workers. It is imperative that there is strong and representative AAPI leadership to address workforce and labor issues and can lead on policies that prioritize job creation and small business growth” National ACE President and CEO, Chiling Tong said of Deputy Secretary Su’s nomination.
National ACE was honored to be invited to join the President as he announced Deputy Secretary Su’s nomination, and appreciates the ongoing support of the Biden-Harris Administrations of the AAPI business community.
