Grubhub Established 2020 - An Opportunity for Chicago Small Business Restaurants

To honor restaurateurs who defied the odds during the COVID-19 pandemic our partner, Grubhub, launched a new award program for small-business Chicago restaurants celebrating five years of success in 2025 – Established 2020

Small business restaurant owners in Chicago who opened their first brick-and-mortar location in 2020 and are still open today are eligible to receive a monetary award to invest back into their small business. To be considered for the Established 2020 Award, please submit your completed application by 11:59:59 PM CT on April 18, 2025. For questions, please contact communityaffairs@grubhub.com.

Specific eligibility criteria includes the following: 

  • Must be an independently-owned small business restaurant with a physical location in Chicago.**

  • Must have filed a business license with the City of Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection in 2020. 

  • Must have filed taxes as a business with the City of Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection in 2024.

  • Must have opened first brick-and-mortar restaurant location in 2020 and be currently open and operational .***

  • Restaurants are NOT required to be existing Grubhub partners. 

* Participation in the Established 2020 Award program is subject to an entrant’s compliance with all contest rules and terms, subject to Grubhub’s verification. Must be 18+ and a legal U.S. resident to enter. See official rules here.

**The business cannot be a publicly traded entity nor an entity of which more than five percent of the beneficial ownership is owned, directly or indirectly, by a publicly traded entity. The owner cannot have more than two of the same restaurant locations. Franchisee-owned locations are not eligible for the Established 2020 Award. 

***Continuous operation is not required, but the restaurant must have been in operation for at least four of the past five years.
